  1. Excellent bag, excellent company star rating

I had an older model of the Rim Runner 22 for the last 8 years. It was a great day bag, I really liked:
    - Insulated hydration compartment. For eg., my Osprey bag doesn't have that, and in South-East Asia you end up with warm water after a few hours. My CamelBak kept water cool most of the day in same conditions.
    - Weight to durability compromise between materials is spot on. The bag is really light, but I didn't have any problems with rips etc., despite treating the bag pretty badly (ie motorbike crash, dragging the bag through rock crevasses, etc).
    - The hydration bladder is best in the business, and it comes with the bag, which adds a lot of value.
    - The back system is comfortable under load, can be adjusted to put most of the load onto your hips, and ventilates well, even in Australian summer hiking.
    - The bag can fit a surprising volume of stuff. You well not run out of space on a day hike.

After 8 years the back padding materials deteriorated, and CamelBak replaced the bag for the latest model (the one above) without problems. There's no fine print here.

In the new model they sent, it was great to see CamelBak improved on the design weaknesses. They beefed up the hip belt, which was a bit thin on the older model. They improved the hip belt clip. They improved the bladder mouth piece (which was a bit vulnerable to breaking) and mounting point (which was a bit high, now the bag distributes water's weight better), they improved how the chest belt adjusts, etc. The bag was already fantastic 8 years ago, and they're just making small adjustments to keep making it better.

To me, this shows the company takes its R&D seriously. The GotYourBak commitment shows belief in their products, they would go broke with that if the bag design was bad. I think the products are excellent for this price category.
